Anyway, it's WDW so a little extra sugar is implied. I thought it was Nesquik but perhaps I am thinking of YooHoo. I just recall it not being refrigerated until opened. Joined Oct 12, My DH loves Nesquick and it has always been refrigerated and the bottle says to keep refrigerated, you are probably thinking YooHoo and I agree ick.
Joined Apr 5, All Nesquick at Disney is refrigerated. The only time I've seen Nesquick not refrigerated is when it's the powder concentrate from a grocery store, which you have to then mix with milk. Joined May 1, I always get the Nesquik chocolate milk at the resort counter service restaurants. It is real milk, not the nasty fake stuff. Joined Jan 12, I would think that if you go to any buffet that has a soft-serve ice cream machine they also will have a pump with chocolate syrup.
Order a milk and thenj go to the dessert bar and add chocolate syrup to the milk. Cheshire Figment said:. Don't get me wrong, they love it while drinking it Joined Sep 27, Joined Jul 10, Nestle probably makes an aseptic chocolate milk, but this kind of packaging has never caught on here at least for milk.
Also you have to remember that Nestle has exclusive rights to many products like coffee in the parks so unless they mix it up themselves, its going to be Nesquick. Jon29 Earning My Ears. The reason why it doesnt need to be refrigerated before opening is because it is vacuum packaged meaning there is no air to facilitate bacteria growth, this also is why you need to refrigerate after opening because there is now air exposed to the milk and bacteria is allowed to grow freely. So you can rest assure that Nesquick is just as healthy or unhealthy as any other chocolate milk, and is probably better since local farms usually use tainted milk for their chocolate milk products.
Even though it's not really bad for you, it's kinda gross. Joined Mar 7, Rose77 said:. The milk that comes in these types of packages is also heated to a higher temperature in the pasteurization process, which kills more bacteria. This gives the milk a longer self life before it goes bad. Ultra High-Temperature Pasteurization combined with the aseptic packaging gives the milk a 6 month shelf life without refrigeration.
This is the way milk is commonly sold in many other countries. As a PP mentioned, some organic milk Horizons is sold this way.
I buy this type of milk to send in my son's lunches. Have you seen milk on shelves that is not being refrigerated? Or heard that some of the milk you can buy in the dairy case does not have to stay in the fridge until after you open it? Wondering what makes this possible? We reached out to several team members and checked the Tetra Pak website to get you answers about aseptic milk, so you can enjoy the convenience this modern processing method offers.
Milk is made shelf-stable refrigeration not required for storage by pasteurizing it at a higher temperature. Which is called ultra-high temperature pasteurization, or UHT pasteurization. Traditional milk is heated up to at least degrees for 15 seconds to kill harmful bacteria in the milk.
With UHT, it is heated up to to degrees for two to six seconds. Both methods of pasteurization ensure safety and freshness. Another thing that makes aseptic milk last on the shelf involves the sterile packaging and sterile environment in which the packaging happens. First, the bottles are produced on site; they are then sterilized so that they are absolutely clean. Secondly, the milk packaged in those bottles is in a sterile environment so that no bacteria or pathogens can contaminate the product.
The combination of UHT pasteurization and bottling sterilization ensures that the milk lasts up to six months on the shelf without refrigeration. The aseptic milk is made with the same delicious, fresh and high-quality milk from local dairy farms.
While pasteurization has helped provide safe, nutrient-rich milk for over years, some people continue to believe that pasteurization negatively affects the nutritional profile of milk. That could not be further from the truth. In fact, there are no meaningful changes to the nutrient package of milk as a result of pasteurization. Raw milk contains a miniscule amount of vitamin C 3. By comparison, orange juice contains about 84 milligrams of vitamin C per serving.
Aseptic milk will stay good in your pantry for up to six months. However, once you open it, it must be refrigerated immediately.
